BASICS OF MEDIATION
A Comprehensive Introduction to Mediation

Introduced in 1977, Community Boards’ Basics of Mediation introduces core conflict resolution skills training designed for managers, human resource professionals, attorneys, ombudsmen, community mediators and others who must intervene in disputes as part of their work. With this 40-hour training, participants gain the knowledge, techniques and skills needed to handle a broad range of disputes. This training is required for those wishing to become volunteer mediators.

Graduates of Basics receive these additional benefits:
+ Mediation practicum through Community Boards' Neighborhood Mediation Program
+ Quarterly Mediation Masters workshops
+ Discounted tuition for Advanced ADR Training series

PEER MEDIATION TRAINING FOR SCHOOLS & YOUTH AGENCIES

Peer Mediation & Conflict Resolution for Staff

Community Boards’ Conflict Manager Program was first introduced in 1982. The effectiveness and longevity of peer mediation programs can be greatly enhanced with a school-wide application of conflict resolution skills and principles involving all school constituencies: teachers, administrators, parents, and students. Training and consultation for these “whole school” applications may include: combing peer mediation with conflict resolution classroom curricula; building culturally sensitive peer mediation programs; and managing a range of adult conflicts.
