No-Cost Mediation for All San Francisco Residents

If you have a dispute, we may be able to help you resolve it. With nearly 30 years of experience, literally thousands of people have benefited from access to high quality, no cost mediations.

Few problems are either too big or too small for Community Boards' services. We have assisted people with conflicts from barking dogs and collapsed fences to harassment and repairing personal relationships.

No matter how many times we see the same type of dispute, Community Boards always gives the same personalized attention and respect to each party involved. Every conflict is unique because the people involved are unique. We really do care!

Our services really are free of charge, but they do cost money to provide. So we request donations. We ask donation of $25.00 to assist us in covering these costs, but which also allows us to maintain the high quality and successful outcomes of our mediations. No one is ever turned away for lack of resources.

These are some of the problems we can assist you with:
Neighbor pet problems
Parking issues
Noisy neighbors
Threats & Harassment
Family feuds
Roommate problems
Landlord & tenant disputes
Parent & child issues
Fences
Tree maintenance
Vandalism

This is how our mediations work.

1) You contact us and explain the problem. We’ll ask questions and answer yours.

2) We then contact the other person and explain our mediation process.

3) If both parties agree to meet, we then set the time and place.

4) During the mediation, before speaking to each other, the disputants talk with the mediators to help identify the issues at the root of the conflict.

5) The mediators help focus the best options for resolving the problem. The disputants themselves negotiate the most workable solution.

6) Final agreements may be oral or written. They represent a true commitment to resolve the problem parties.
