Dear Friend,
Thank you so much for making a donation to Community Boards! Your tax deductible gift will help us keep doing what we're known for: providing top quality and extremely affordable conflict resolutions to all San Franciscans, offering one of the best mediation trainings in the country to build a core of skilled volunteer mediators, leading facilitations to groups and so much more.
In 2010, we're excited to be expanding our programs to provide conflict resolution training to youth at risk of violence and assault and interactions with the criminal justice system. We're working in conjunction with the San Francisco Unified School District to assist faculty, administration and staff in resolving school-based conflicts. And, our work developing a new curriculum for teachers to address lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender harassment in their classrooms will be disseminated, too.
With dwindling public funding, your ongoing support makes this work possible. Thank you again.
With gratitude and in peace,
Darlene Weide
Executive Director

10 ADDITIONAL WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR MISSION
There are many ways that you, your friends and the community can support Community Boards. When you support Community Boards, we are not only able to maintain our current services of providing no-cost and low-cost conflict resolution services, but are also able to continue providing scholarships for low-income folks to attend our mediation trainings. These scholarships are an integral part of creating a diverse, dynamic and representative community of mediators. Together we are able to accomplish far more than we could do on our own.
1) A donation of any amount is very useful.
Keep in mind it’s tax deductible. A gift of $35 will help cover the administrative paper work to open two new cases for very low income clients. A gift of $195 will sponsor a low income participant to become trained as a Community Boards’ mediator.
2) Spreading the word about Community Boards.
Promoting Community Boards among your neighbors, coworkers, family and friends is great for generating awareness and use of our services. If you’ve had a positive experience with Community Boards--as a disputant, volunteer, mediator or trainee-- tell your community about it.
3) Donate your unneeded household items to Community Thrift.
Community Thrift is a wonderful a non profit organization. By referencing Community Boards at the time of your drop off, we will earn 80% of the selling price. Community Thrift is located at: 623 Valencia Street. Our number is 78. This is a good way to support two local groups!
4) Instead of birthday gifts, ask for a donation.
At your next birthday party, instead of saying “no gifts please,” suggest a donation to Community Boards. If you let us know in advance, we can even send a volunteer to your party to explain the services Community Boards provides our community.
5) Become a legacy partner.
One way to donate at an appropriate time is to make Community Boards an inheritor of a part of your estate by including us in your will.
6) Donate supplies.
From office supplies (such as dry erase markers, post-it note butcher paper, copy paper, envelopes) to paper supplies (Kleenex, paper plates, cups, paper towels) – a contribution would be appreciated and used by staff, volunteers, and participants.
7) Matching Funds.
Check to see if your business will match your donation. If so, this is a win for all involved.
8) United Way.
Donations through your workplace United Way Donor Option Plan benefit Community Boards most directly.
9) Auction Items.
Do you have access to a desirable service, gift certificates to restaurants and local businesses, sports or cultural event tickets, out-of-town homes, or even to someone famous? We’re getting ready to hold an on-line auction and we need your support to make it a success.
10) Mail Invitations.
By sending out our annual Pennies for Peace (Community Boards Endowment Fund) fundraising letter to your colleagues and family, you will be helping us spread the word and raising much needed funds to continue our work.
