ON-SITE TRAININGS
Community Boards offers trainings for implementing its peer mediation program, the Conflict Manager Program.  We also deliver customized half- and full-day workshops in conflict resolution skills and strategies for school administration and staff, parents and community stakeholders. 

Our training s have been exhaustively field-tested, and include all necessary handouts and worksheets  Each is designed to address the unique needs and goals of each individual school or youth agency.

Conflict Manager Program Implementation
6 hours for elementary | 12 hours for middle| 18 hours for high

Participants learn all aspects of planning, implementation and program maintenance for effective peer mediation programming. 

Topics include:
  + School site preparation & generating program buy-in
  + Overview of program implementation guidelines
  + Suggested schedules and effective techniques for training students

  + Roles and responsibilities of program coordination

  + Measuring program effectiveness and impact


Training Students as Conflict Managers

6 hours for elementary | 12 hours for middle & high
We directly train students as Conflict Managers at your school or youth agency.  This training also prepares selected staff as program coordinators.  Additional adults, including parents or school volunteers, are trained to monitor small group roleplay practices.

Students learn:
  + Communication, problem solving and empathy skills
  + The Conflict Manager mediation process
  + Their roles and responsibilities as Conflict Managers


Conflict Resolution Skills & Practices for Adults

Up to 25 participants per training | 4- and 6-hour trainings

Participants will learn critical communication and conflict resolution strategies that prevent the escalation of conflicts and assist in their resolution. 

Topics can include:
  +  Recognizing the stages of conflict
  + Listening effectively in difficult situations and self-expression skills
  + Understanding and managing strong emotions
  + Problem solving skills/processes to model and use with students & others
  + Understanding when and how to intervene directly
  + Facilitating and problem solving for students with interpersonal conflicts



Parent Workshops

We offer 2-, 4- and 6-hours presentations and training sessions for parent groups.  Longer workshops can be broken into smaller segments.

Topics can include:
 + Overview of the benefits of conflict resolution skills for their children
 + Using conflict resolution at home
 + One-on-one problem solving techniques
