The Owen County Learning Network was created in December of 2000 by the Owen County Community Foundation through a CAPE grant (Community Alliance to Promote Education) received from the Lilly Endowment.  OCLN is now incorporated and has been granted 501(c)(3) status as a not-for-profit entity.

OCLN, Inc. is utilizing the experience, success, community connections and volunteer support to continue enriching the lives of Owen County residents.

Additional funding is being sought through grants and private foundations. Community wide support is being sought through fundraising. We invite everyone to participate in making a difference for Owen County residents by volunteering their time and/or with tax-deductible donations.

The following programs are all part of the Owen County Learning Network:
- Start Off Smart brings free books to children and child development and kindergarten readiness information for their parents.
- Parents as Teachers is the optional home visiting part of the Start Off Smart program.
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)/GED classes

The mission of the Owen County Learning Network is to enhance the lives of people in our community by providing learning opportunities, empowering parents of young children with knowledge, and establishing a network of voluteers to share the light of learning.
