Foster homes are the backbone of our organization and the more foster homes that we have, the more pugs we can help. Fostering is a very important step for a pug on his/her way to finding a "forever home." The foster home is the place where our pugs can learn, grow and heal, both mentally and physically, as we search for the ideal permanent home for them. NIPRA will cover all pre-approved veterinary care and you provide the food, training, and most importantly love!
Potential foster homes will go through the same screening and approval process as an adoptive home, which includes: an application, interview, home visit, and both personal and veterinary reference checks. If you have adopted from us in the past, you are already approved to foster! If you are willing to foster a pug in your home, please email us at foster@northernillinoispugrescue.org and one of our volunteers will respond with more details as soon as possible.
NIPRA can not survive without it's foster parents and volunteers. Not everyone is cut out to be a foster parent, but there are other positions that are filled with people that care and give what time they can to help these adorable dogs.
We can use your help with the following jobs:
- Home visits to prospective adoptees before the Pug is placed
- Home visits to prospective foster parents
- Picking up Pugs from the shelter or private individuals and delivering them to foster homes or vet clinics
- Organizing & helping at fundraisers
- Educating the public regarding Pugs and Northern Illinois Pug Rescue & Adoption, Inc.
- Follow-up calls on placed Pugs

You can be as active or inactive as you wish to be, picking a job to suit the time you have to spare. Please contact us at niprapugs@gmail.com if you are willing to volunteer your time
