| Volunteer Openings
As Giving Spirit is currently
a small organization, volunteers serving on committees and general volunteers will likely not be
required to make a large investment of time in order to be effective. It is a
requirement of each prospective volunteer to be passionate about or have
genuine interest in the Giving Spirit mission and plight of South Africans as a
whole.
Marketing Committee Members
We are seeking a chair of the Marketing Committee as well as general committee members. Desired applicants include individuals with experience in
Marketing and college students with a degree in marketing or currently studying
marketing (Board Chair must have Marketing experience).
This exciting committee will be ideally comprised of at least one expert
charitable enthusiast in each of the following fields: Web update, Public
Relations, Special Events, and Graphic Design. However, we welcome fun-minded and eager individuals
with skills in multiple areas. This fun committee will develop marketing plans,
time-lines, and strategy, create marketing materials including press releases, and
manage mailing lists. Grass Roots marketing will also be an activity.
The Chair of this great committee will be responsible to see that planning and execution of the marketing
goals is done in a timely manner. Ideally, the Marketing chair will also assist
the board in recruitment of volunteers to help build the committee, although this is not a requirement.
The Marketing Committee should
meet once a month and they will have the freedom to schedule additional
meetings as they see fit.
Since we are a small group, it will
be necessary for each committee member to have a take charge attitude and be
comfortable autonomously setting goals and executing plans.
Fundraising Committee Members
We are seeking a motivated Chair who desires to mold a new and exciting Fundraising committee. We are also seeking general committee members. Desired applicants include individuals with experience in Fundraising as well as those who are simply eager to assist the committee using
whatever skills and talents they have (Committee Chair must have Fundraising
experience).
The Fundraising Committee's job is not simply
to raise money. Instead, this committee will be responsible for helping the Board team as a whole understand their role in fulfilling the organization's fundraising goals.
Responsibilities of the committee as a whole are to: 1.
Work with committee members to establish a fundraising plan that incorporates a
series of appropriate vehicles, such as special events, direct mail, product
sales, etc. 2.Work with additional volunteers in their efforts to raise money.
3. Take the lead in certain types of outreach efforts, such as chairing a
dinner or other committee, or hosting fundraising parties, etc. 4. Monitor fundraising
efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are
acknowledged appropriately, and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective.
Since we are a small group, it will
be necessary for each committee member to have a take charge attitude and be
comfortable autonomously setting goals and executing plans.
