Atiya Ravens
Program Director
Atiya Ravens brings curiosity, energy and a love for children to her position as Program Director of Girls Inc of the Greater Peninsula. In this position, Atiya works with the various sites in Hampton and Newport News, Virginia to support the staff as they instill the Girls Inc. principles within the girls whom they serve.
Atiya strongly believes in being a life-long learner and stresses the importance of education and seeking opportunities for further growth and development. Atiya graduated from the University of Louisville, where she earned a B.A. in Communication and a M.S in Social Work (Specialization in School Social Work). Currently, she is working towards her doctorate in Education at Regent University.
Upon graduation from college, Atiya worked as a Residential Counselor, Therapeutic Child Support Counselor and a Therapist for a residential treatment home in KY. She moved to VA in 2008. She worked in a school through a day treatment program, providing support to students through individual counseling, group counseling and crisis support.
Atiya serves her community through the 'I Am' Project, which works to build confidence in elementary students, as well as prepare them for middle school. Additionally, Atiya is co-founder of P.I.P.E.S (Parental Involvement Produces Excellence & Success), which focuses on strengthening parenting skills and involvement in schools.
Atiya is a native of Lexington, Kentucky, where she was taught by her parents, William and Sharon Ravens, to be STRONG, SMART AND BOLD! Atiya resides in Chesapeake, VA.
