Individual Volunteer Opportunities
 
Children's Program
 
- Provide a positive experience for children living at our shelter by facilitating activities (field trips, tutoring, arts and crafts, games, etc.) and creating a sense of normalcy for children who have been abused or witnessed abuse. 

Additional Information: 1-on-1 training provided, scheduling commitment set with Children's Program Coordinator
 
Child Care
 
-Ensure parents are able to attend counseling sessions by providing fun-filled childcare. 
 
Additional Information: Scheduling usually in the evenings; position requires a once per week minimum commitment for 6 weeks.
 
Crisis Line Facilitators

-Provide counseling and referral information to people calling our 24-hour crisis line.

Additional Information: Scheduling is available 24 hours a day (urgent need is in the evening); volunteers receive 30 hours of professional crisis intervention training; position requires a commitment of 100 hours over a 6 month period.
 
Sexual Assault Advocacy Team (SAAT)
 
-Support survivors by providing crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment and safe transition to shelter, and other services.

Additional Information: Receive 30 hours of certified training within a 3 month period, attend required in-services, and commit to a minimum 72 on-call hours per month for 6 months.

Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (VIPP)

-Assist VIPP counselors with facilitation and discussion during violence prevention therapy groups.

Additional Information: Counseling support volunteers commit to 2 hours/ week for 8 weeks; mostly evening 7-9pm; administrative support volunteer to commit to approx. 5 hours/week with flexible scheduling.
 
Speaker's Bureau
 
-Promote awareness among community groups regarding relationship violence and sexual assault.

Additional Information: Comprehensive training provided; scheduling commitment set with Community Education Coordinator.
 
Administrative Support
 
-Provide staff support by assisting with general adminitrative duties, scheduling is flexible during business hours.
 
Thrift Store Shopkeepers

-Aid clients and customers with their purchases and sort, price, and display donations; scheduling is flexible; Group and weekend opportunities available.

Special Events

- Help with planning and execution on everything from special holiday activities to the agency's annual fundraisers. 
Drama Teach
 
-A fun way to educate students about relationship violence and sexual assault through interactive theatre. Volunteers can help plan or perform these presentations.
