Reverend Santos of Peru is currently in surgery at Piedmont Hospital today for partial facial reconstruction.  He was injured in a car accident this past March while driving volunteers to the airport.  We pray and hope for a total healing so that he will be able to chew again and eat normally.  We thank you for your prayers...

Congratulations Raul:  now attending graduate school at Texas A&M!

"Cross Connection brought hope to our family and it made possible for Raul to achieve his dreams."

"Among all the blessings we have received these past years, we would like to share one that fills our hearts with joy and made us feel proud of our son. On May 14th our son Raul graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree on Petroleum Engineering. Moreover, he graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude), which led him to be awarded with a scholarship to pursue his master’s degree at Texas A&M.

We feel that you are part of his achievements because all these could have never been possible without your help. When he was ill, he found his guardian angels in yourself, Marybeth and her family, Julia Novoa, Dr. Williams, Dr. Owens and Cross Connection foundation."

We will always be grateful for your help,
Eneida, Raul, Raul Alberto, Hazel and family

 El Salvador    February 5-12, 2011

The pediatric urology teams gathers for the preoperative clinic on the first day of their campaign at Hospital Benjamin Bloom.  Team members from left to right are Gerda Swensen RN, Dr. Uriel Perez, Dr. Luis Perez, Dr. Jeff Carney, Dr. Edwin Smith, Dr. Scott Cuda, Brenda Middlebrooks RM , and Dr. Eduardo Loza.

Dr. Uriel Perez is joined by Dr. Edwin Smith in a urologic reconstructive case in the operating room of Hospital Benjamin Bloom

In February of this year the Pediatric Urology Team returned to Hospital Benjamin Bloom for the fifth year to assist  El Salvadorean pediatric surgeons, Drs. Eduardo Loza and Uriel Perez in caring for their patients.  The team had an opportunity to see several children that had been treated during earlier campaigns.  In addition, the medical cases of several children selected by Drs.  Loza and Perez that were in need of pediatric urologic reconstructive surgery were reviewed.  Over the course of the week CCCI doctors joined with their El Salvadorean counterparts to provide surgical care to 19 children.  A broad range of problems was addressed including complex hypospadias, epispadias, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, renal stone disease, and urethral trauma.
Based primarily out of the pediatric charity hospital, Benjamin Bloom, in San Salvador, El Salvador, our teaching projects establish specialty surgical units over a five-year period, and leave the hospital able to offer life-changing procedures to the children of the community. Each year teams of US professionals conduct on-site training through demonstrating pediatric operations on patients the hospital has selected; we also procure whatever necessary specialized equipment is necessary for the procedures and have them installed.
Thank you Dr.'s Smith, Cuda, Perez, and Perez,  Loza, and Carney.  Your surgical talent and service to those in need is so greatly appreciated.
